Joseph thought himself lucky to have Sora as a regular ride. The colt was loving and affectionate in the stables and a stubborn competitor on the track. No, he probably would never be the best but the two year old had truly affected his jockey. The attentive nuzzling everytime he went over to see him, the soft play. So he wasn't domineering, he was just sweet and loving. Plus, Joseph was determined to prove Sora had the ability to race and win, and win they would.
He led the turf sprinter happily, not having to worrying about pulling or sudden stops like they did some of the other horses. He patted the bay's head as he led him and stood him on the turf workout track. It was a little worn from recent activity, but nothing the horse couldn't handle. A little wear on a track, after all, made practice realistic.
He tightened the girth on the colt's saddle and mounted him, giving him a few minutes to settle with his weight on himbefore testing his gait. It was a ritual he went through with every horse, without fail. The gait of Sora was easy enough to work with and showed none of the tell-tale signs of injury. Not that he had expected any with this laid-back creature.
He then proceeded to push the horse through his paces, walk, trot, canter, gallop, slowing down and speeding up so he could get used to how the colt rode best. When the horse seemed to be getting tired he dismounted, patting the colt and taking him back upto the stable, not wanting to wear out the stable's only sprinter.
